A confidential peer support group facilitated by women in ‘recovery’ for any woman wishing to :

This is not a clinical service but a group facilitated by Network consumers for Network consumers. If you have a crisis or safety concerns please contact a clinical service.

If you are new to the Network please arrive at 5.45pm to meet the facilitator before group starts. This allows time to learn about the Network and complete a registration form.

By completing a registration form you will become a Network Member. This will not only enable you to access our Peer Support groups, but also offers the options of the "Living recovery" initiative (Healthy AOD fee outings inclusive of family members), and access to free consumer workforce development trainings, and a range of other Network events and initiatives.

All AOD Consumers are welcome to attend our Peer Support groups irrespective of individual concepts of recovery and/or AOD goals. There is no expectation that members have to be abstinent from substances or intend to become abstinent. However, to keep everyone safe we ask members not to attend Network meetings intoxicated. It is also important to note that we are not a clinical service equipped to address issues of personal safety or risk to self or others. Please contact a clinical service for any crisis or personal safety concerns. For information on clinical AOD services in your area contact the free Alcohol Drug Helpline (10.00am to 10.00pm) on 0800 787 797. In an emergency where you think someone is at risk of harming themselves or others we recommend you phone your local public hospital and ask to speak to the Mental Health Crisis Team. Please see the Group Guidelines section on our website before you attend either a Peer Support group or a Network Meeting.

LIVING RECOVERY INITIATIVE:

In late 2009 the Network started providing (as organised by the Network) regular healthy AOD free outings to parks, beaches and also other specific events e.g. the Waka Ama programme provided by the Networks Pacific Consumer representative of the Networks Steering Group, James Papalii. These initiatives are to help provide funded activities to role model fun in recovery. These activities (unlike our Peer Support Groups) are also an appropriate forum to involve friends or family members.

Please contact the Network Manager to find out the details of any up and coming events.
